Click to Pay is a secure online checkout feature included with your Pliant card. It allows you to complete purchases on participating websites without entering your full card number, expiry date, or CVC each time. Instead, your card appears automatically after you confirm your identity usually via a one-time security code.
Click to Pay is managed by Visa and built to streamline the online payment experience. Your card details are stored securely, and the feature ensures that they’re never shared directly with the merchant. It’s similar to how contactless works in physical stores but for online payments.
Once active, Click to Pay provides a consistent, card-on-file experience across devices and browsers, reducing the need to re-enter payment details on every site you visit.
How does Click to Pay work?
Click to Pay creates a secure online checkout profile that’s linked to your Pliant Visa card and either your email address or mobile number. This profile is stored by Visa and allows you to pay online without needing to manually enter your card details each time.
Here’s what happens when you use Click to Pay at checkout:
You choose Click to Pay during checkout: When you're shopping on a website that supports Click to Pay, you'll see the Click to Pay icon as a payment option. Instead of entering your card number, you choose this option to proceed.
You enter your email address or mobile number: This is how Visa recognises which payment profile to use. The email or mobile number should match the one linked to your Pliant Visa card.
You confirm it’s you with a one-time code: For security, Visa sends a one-time passcode to your email or phone. You’ll enter this code to confirm that you’re the one making the purchase.
Your saved Pliant card appears: Once verified, your saved card details (e.g. card art, last four digits) will appear. You simply select your card, confirm the payment, and the checkout is complete.
What’s happening behind the scenes?
• Visa retrieves your saved payment profile and securely prepares the transaction.
• Your full card number is never displayed to the merchant or typed into the website.
• Instead, Visa uses a protected version of your card (sometimes referred to as a network token) that’s unique to that purchase or device.
• This adds an extra layer of protection and reduces the risk of card fraud or misuse.
• Because your details are already verified and stored securely, Click to Pay gives you a consistent and simplified checkout experience across supported websites with less typing, fewer errors, and stronger protection
