In this article, we provide an overview of Pliant's billing features. We explain how the billing statements work and what payment frequencies, payment methods, and payment terms are available.
Billing statements
Pliant’s credit card billing statements aggregate all card transactions made by any of the organization’s cardholders using any of their cards.
All cards issued to a customer organization draw from the same credit line and are settled through each organization's own dedicated Pliant account. A single statement keeps the billing process simple. There is no need to reconcile separate statements of sometimes hundreds of cards against the outstanding balance of the credit line. Instead, Pliant customers receive a single statement of all the organization's card transactions.
At the same time, Pliant’s billing setup provides maximum flexibility. Next to the static PDF statement files, Pliant also offers comprehensive CSV files that include many useful data points. With these CSV files, it is possible to analyze spending on any level, for example, per cardholder, card, or team/cost center.
Billing statement periods vs. bill payment frequencies
Pliant issues billing statements in a monthly cycle. However, the schedule for paying open billing amounts is independent of the monthly billing statement period. This means Pliant allows to pay open billing amounts back in various frequencies. At the moment, we offer monthly, bi-weekly, weekly, and daily bill payments.
It is also possible to "prefund" your Pliant account, which means you basically pay a collateral amount before making payments with your Pliant credit cards. The prefunding option is a convenient feature to extend the spending power of your credit line. Please contact customer service to find out more about this feature.
The chosen payment frequency is important for two reasons:
The total available spending volume, for example, multiple bill payments per month also means you can turn over the amount of your credit limit multiple times per month.
The payment frequency also affects your cashback rate. The more often or earlier you pay, the higher the cashback amounts your organization can earn.
Bill payment methods (SEPA direct debit)
Open billing amounts are typically repaid via SEPA direct debit (SDD).
For most customers, we only require a standard SEPA CORE mandate, which can be granted within the app. In special cases, we may require a SEPA B2B mandate, which provides more security for both sides.
As required for SDDs, you will receive an email notification about the debit amounts two bank working days before the funds are withdrawn from your billing account. This email also includes a CSV file listing the transactions this bill payment relates to.
If you need to switch your billing account, please have a look at this article.
In exceptional cases, when payment via SDD is not possible, we may allow payment via wire transfer. This requires a separate agreement and may come with adjusted payment and cashback terms.
Choosing and changing the bill payment frequency
The payment frequency is set during onboarding when your organization's credit line is assigned. It is also possible to change the payment frequency at any time later on. If you want to change your organization's payment frequency, you can reach us by phone at +49 30 54453778-0, through the chat in our mobile or web app, or by submitting a ticket via our Support Form
Based on your organization’s risk profile and the amount of the required credit line, the choice of payment frequencies may be limited. For example, if the required credit amount is high in relation to the risk profile, we may require daily payments.
If your organization is eligible for monthly payments, you may always choose higher payment frequencies that earn higher cashback rates.
Payment terms (deferred bill payments)
If the organization’s risk profile allows it, Pliant also offers payment terms, i.e. deferral of bill payments by 14 or 30 days. These payment terms can be combined flexibly with any of the offered payment frequencies. For example, it is possible to defer each daily payment by 14 days. Payment terms of course also have an effect on the cashback rate Pliant can offer.
