Overview
Our multi-currency billing functionality allows creating additional accounts in the following currencies: CHF, CZK, DKK, GBP, HUF, NOK, PLN, RON, SEK, and USD. This feature is ideal for customers who have operations in different jurisdictions and would like to get billed in the currency they operate in.
For now it is only possible to fund these accounts via wire transfer, but we are working on offering credit lines in the near future.
To get early access to this feature, please contact us either by phone at +49 30 54453778-0, through the chat in our mobile or web app, or by submitting a ticket via our Support Form. Note that you need to be on our Standard or Custom Plan to use this feature. Once we have given you access to the feature, an owner or admin of the organization can activate it via Settings -> Modules.
Main account
When your organization is onboarded on the Pliant platform, the first "main" account of the organization is activated. The currency of that account will serve as the main currency of your organization. This currency will be used for various reporting purposes, such as:
The total amount of money available to spend across all accounts displayed in the Dashboard.
Total cashback earned in displayed in the Dashboard.
Total spend by merchant in the Merchants page.
In addition, this is the currency in which card issuance permissions for admins and team managers will be stored. As an example, let's say the main currency of an organization is USD and the card issuance permission of an admin is 1.000 USD - i.e., the admin can issue cards up to 1.000 USD. If the admin is issuing a card under a EUR account, the admin can issue the card with a maximum limit of 918,29 EUR (assuming the relevant daily exchange rate).
Creating additional accounts
With the Multi-currency billing feature enabled, additional card accounts can be created via a new "Accounts" tab.
Click on "Accounts" in the left hand navigation bar.
Click "Create account".
Select a currency from the drop-down list. You can create one account per available currency. If an account has already been created in a specific currency (in active or pending state), you will not be able to select that currency again. Click "Create account".
You will receive an email when the account has been activated and you can top up money.
Top up money by clicking the "Top up" button.
Issuing cards
When you have created several accounts for your organization, you need to choose under which account to issue or request future cards. For now, it is not possible to switch a card from one account to another.
Cashback
Cashback is earned in the respective currency of the account under which the transaction was made. If your organization has accounts in EUR, USD, and GBP, it will earn cashback in those currencies. The cashback earned must then be redeemed for each currency separately.
Statements
If your organization has multiple accounts, you should switch between the accounts on the Statements page. Pliant also generates multiple "Monthly Statement" PDFs for each account you have and sends them to your billing email address with separate emails.
Top-ups & Withdrawal
Organizations that have multiple accounts should do separate top-ups and withdrawals to their accounts.
A Travel industry use-case
A travel company using multicurrency accounts can handle transactions in both Euro and PLN for their Polish customers. They can pre-fund two accounts at once and switch between them effortlessly.β
